For comic book readers: Do you like your local comic bookstore?
If not, are the employees who shakes elitist? My experience has been that many of these employees "horde Comics themselves are rude to customers, and are greedy weasels. This has been in many, but I found a shop comics where the owner was helpful, pleasant, and thanked the business. I'm thinking about getting online comics. What has been your experience either in a store or online comics?
I can speak on both sides of it … be a receiver or a client but also to have worked in a comic book store. hoarding and greedy employees, it can be a concern, not only at the level of employees. The owner of the chain I worked for to hide a number of books of high demand, so that might be a couple of months later and sold on the price increase. So technically speaking, walking and asking someone if the shop had a copy of the "X" is said "sorry, all out" when the owner had some in the back, but he would not sell them. If the owner / manager is strict in making sure that the product goes to customers, which is not much of a problem. Workers are also paid to remove their things with others, and whether there were special items they wanted, and they were earmarked for them because they placed an order for him as a regular customer. For regular items … if for some reason something shipped and there was not enough for all customers takes precedence. Basically, if you have a manager or owner who oversees the new product comes and begins to outside, they can control what employees do (assuming that the manager or owner wants, that is). Rude customers, I hate to stereotype, but there is a reason for some of the generalizations. Many (I will not say that most or all) of the comic shop employees are there because they are collectors / players / etc .. and many (again, not all) lack the maturity and social skills. In addition, they will not attract many star performers from a comic book store is essentially a low-paid work little or no progress in it. Another issue is oversight. If the owner / manager is not there, "the mice will play." Employees, as he prefers to do nothing more than read, go out with or play with the players, and a client wishing to service is seen as a nuisance. Again, not all places are the same. Some places have a good team and well informed, others not. Much depends on what you look for when hiring someone. In some places they just want bodies on the floor and record on, some are more discerning about whom to hire. At one point the store I had worked in five degrees, including three of the workers there … I and another had our bachelor's and master's degrees, one had a degree. Essentially, you get what you hire. There are decent places out there, and they are not. He recently moved to a new state, and had to find a new comic book store to get my stuff. The best advice I can give, "Look what your options are in your area, and check them before actually create a subscription here is a good tactic. Visit the shop a couple of times. Either 1) have a lot of time browsing … or if the store has table games, and you or a friend has a CCG, RPG, board games, etc. .. 2) establish the game and play, or if you are alone, act like you are waiting for someone, or trying see if you can get a pick up game started … *** Use the time to watch the owner / manager and staff ***. See how they treat customers subscriptions of customers across the street. See how the staff answers customer questions and make some yourself … Test your knowledge of what they are selling and how to treat people with questions. Are they giving honest answers, they are pretending … one of the things that is key for me is "to give an opinion honest as if they want to be told in the customer's site. "That's something big … if an unknowledgeable customer comes in looking for a good $ $ book and sees the brightness # 1 that has Collector Article on the cover and want to know if that would be a good book to get … the employee knowing that not a good book on rational speculation can or 1) be honest, "nah, this book does not really go anywhere when he left or 2) yes, that would be good (who just want to move the product and get a sale). Listen to the advice they give clients. Visit the new comic day and see if you can put things out (if not already out when the doors open.) Visit Day you know the manager / owner is not there and see how employees behave without supervision. If you go for the limited edition / alt covers … ask what their policy is affecting them and gets them if there is a limited amount among all subscribers. If you choose a place to get your sub least maintain tests for a while. Do all the books I got for you, or do you lose a little? That is very important if you do not have the luxury of going to the store every week. By adding or take things in your sub, how fast does it end? Does it accurately? Always recheck the first months … make changes, then a week or two later go or call and ask to read or print a list for you. Go to the website of the diamond every week and consider what should be sent and check that against what it took for you. Of course, there can be delays and changes … so if anything, can only ask "made" X "boat? And probably if Diamond's fault, you get the "Yes, it was supposed to, but that was delayed, and so on." If it was the fault of the store, it is likely that say "Yes, yes … you did not get one? Is it in your sub? Etc." Another subtle way to check is when you go to get your sub, you do not receive immediate … go to the area of new comic and see for yourself what came out that week and earlier. If you've searched in Diamond and / or examination of their shelves / tables, you should already have an idea of what should be in the sub. I just got my regular comics through shops … I've been lucky so far to find places that I can work. If you can not, then I would go to the online route. Good luck!
