Example of a mathematical problem impossible?
I'm writing a comic strip in which the main character is taking a math test, and I need a math problem that is actually impossible to solve (preferably of calculation it seems really complicated as well.) Something that only hard also work, but if it is solvable, please mention that in your reply. Thanks!
Evaluate the integral (from-infinity to infinity) cos (x) / (1 + X ^ 2). This problem can be solved. (In fact, the response is good, is pi / e.) However, the solution uses the formula of Cauchy Integral analysis complex, which would certainly be impossible to resolve in a standard calculus course. Clear M: integral (from 1 to M) 1 / x ^ 2 = 2. Since the integral from 1 to infinity is only one, there is no way to get two, no matter how big you make M. If you want to make this look more complicated, you can replace 2 with any number (or expression) greater than 1. If you want something that looks complicated, it is true unresolved, you may want to look at the Navier-Stokes equations.

If you want something that sounds complicated and it is really remarkable, you might want to consider the Navier-Stokes equations.
